Fantastic GCSE results celebrated at St John’s School!
81% A*- C grades were achieved by our students, up from 76% last year. The government bench mark of A*-C grades including English and Maths has now been replaced with a ‘Progress 8 score’ that we will have confirmed later in the term, however we estimate that our overall score will be +3.5, the national average being 0. 26% of students achieved 3 or more A/A* grades which is a fantastic outcome. These results are especially pleasing at a time of huge national changes to the exam system being driven by the Department for Education.Students and staff have worked very hard to achieve such excellent results. Our high standards of teaching are supported effectively by dedicated Learning Support staff so that students at all levels can achieve their potential. Staff have also diligently offered additional support in the form of after school sessions and even workshops at weekends and in the holidays in order to build student confidence. This year, we have also been delighted to organise some study sessions where students from SJS and KRS have been able to work together.
Our core values of ‘Excellence, Learning and Leadership’ are more than merely words that we use; they underpin our daily work to ensure that students and staff alike endeavour to be the best that we can be. Many of our Year 11 students will go on to join our 6th Form, which celebrated its best ever A Level results this year.
Congratulations to all students.
